After an intense, competitive, peer-reviewed application process, Dr. Charles Cho and Dr. BeiBei Zhang, from the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre (SRCC) at Southlake, received one of two annual University of Toronto Department of Radiation Oncology Collaborative Research Seed Grants, in March 2018.
As the principal investigators, Dr. Cho and Dr. Zhang won this prestigious grant for a collaborative project that aims to reduce the harmful effects (toxicity) of prostate radiation therapy and improve outcomes to each patient’s health. What’s particularly unique is this project demonstrates the value of ‘how’ patients report their symptoms during their treatment. Essentially, it aligns patient self-reporting with scientific research.
Congratulations to these two principal investigators and those at the SRCC at Southlake who helped make this project successful!
