Dr_Alim_Punja-portraitDr. Alim Punja is an anesthesiologist and chronic pain physician at Southlake Regional Health Centre. He was recently recognized for his work helping a palliative care patient, who was using very high doses of narcotics to manage her pain.

Dr. Punja arranged for our patient to have a permanent IV line and taught her partner to administer small doses of a local anesthetic at home and as needed. This pain care solution made it possible for our patient to come off narcotics and once again fully communicate with her family. It gave her the quality of life that she and her loved ones very much appreciated during her final days.
